CHURCH HISTORY

Track Baptist Church is nestled in the Track Rock Community near Blairsville, GA. The church was founded in 1906, although records of the Notla River Association indicate that church meetings were being held in the area as early as 1870. Historical records document that in 1880 one acre of land was donated for the purpose of building a meeting house that was to be used as a church and school. A log building was thought to have been constructed for this purpose. In 1906, Track Rock Baptist Church was founded as a Primitive Baptist Church. Rev. S.L. Brown was the founding pastor for a congregation of about 10 original members. Initially, services were held only one weekend per month. Rev. Brown remained pastor until 1930. In 1939, the church name was changed to the Missionary Baptist Church of Christ at Track Rock and later shortened to Track Rock Missionary Baptist Church. While the early building served as both a church and school, a dedicated church was constructed in 1953. That building was used until 1988 when the present building was dedicated.
